AFEA Congress proudly represented Athens and Greece’s dynamic meetings industry at IMEX Frankfurt 2025, Europe’s premier trade show for the global meetings and events community. Held from May 20th - 22nd at Messe Frankfurt, IMEX brought together thousands of professionals from around the world.
Participating through various Hosted Buyer Programs, AFEA Congress demonstrated its ongoing commitment to building international partnerships, exchanging knowledge, and exploring future-forward developments in event design and delivery. In addition to high-level B2B meetings with global exhibitors, the company contributed to the educational agenda of the event, with active involvement in sessions hosted by IAPCO (International Association of Professional Congress Organizers).
Kleopatra Giatsou, Director of Operations at AFEA Congress, joined a distinguished IAPCO panel discussion titled The Workplace Revolution, offering insights on designing future meetings for evolving professional landscapes. Meanwhile, Chara Theodosi, Senior Executive for Association Relations & Operations, attended as a hosted buyer through the German Convention Bureau, a valued collaboration the company warmly acknowledges.
Our team attending IMEX also had the opportunity to participate in interesting educational sessions and workshops, including Next Gen’s "Mind the Gap!" — a safe space to co-create ideas to future-proof businesses, where Kleopatra took part in dynamic group work with members of IAPCO, AMCI, AIPC, and IFES. The interactive workshop tackled the leadership career gap and explored practical solutions to bridge generational divides in the meetings industry.
A standout moment for AFEA Congress team was the presence of CEO Sissi Lignou, who not only leads AFEA Congress but also serves as President of IAPCO, reinforcing the organization’s influence within the global congress management community and the advocacy mission of IAPCO.
